What is Extrait De Parfum?
Fragrances are composed of the fragrance oil (the part that smells nice) and Ethanol. The Ethanol is the “carrier” and it allows the fragrance to evaporate so you can smell it. Various brands mix their fragrances at different strengths with some being quite weak and others being very strong. It’s no surprise that the stronger fragrances have more impact and tend to last longer. In the world of perfume/colognes/aftershaves or fragrances, there are some market specific terms used to describe the strength of the fragrance (or the ratio of fragrance oil to Ethanol).
| Fragrance Type | Oil Concentration | Longevity | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eau De Cologne | 2–5% | 1–2 Hours | Very light, fresh and short-lasting |
| Eau De Toilette | 5–15% | 2–4 Hours | Fresh everyday fragrance with moderate strength |
| Eau De Parfum | 10–20% | 4–6 Hours | Richer scent profile with improved longevity |
| Strongest Extrait De Parfum | 20–40% | 8–12+ Hours | Deep, luxurious and long-lasting fragrance performance |
Extrait De Parfum is the highest concentration commonly used in luxury fragrance, containing significantly more fragrance oil than Eau De Toilette or Eau De Parfum. The result is a richer scent profile, slower evaporation and noticeably longer-lasting performance on skin and clothing.
Why Extrait De Parfum is the Sensible Choice
Extrait de Parfum is the strongest form of fragrance you can buy. Since you get more fragrance in the bottle, it smells stronger and more of the aromatic oil ends up on your clothes & skin with each spray. It offers a richer, deeper & more luxurious scent than the weaker versions. This also means you need fewer sprays to get the same effect, so the money-saving aspect of a stronger fragrance works in two ways.
Designer fragrances produced by the big brands always carry a “brand-tax“, as well as a marketing-tax, a celebrity tax & expensive packaging. These elements work great to get your attention and to convince you that it’s worth it, but instead of paying for high-quality, well-balanced fragrance ingredients, you’re often paying for middlemen, and the above mentioned “designer fragrance taxes”. As of 2025, the designer-inspired market is growing rapidly as the masses are starting to realise that it’s really not worth it. The infatuation with major brand labels & social status is fading. The fact of the matter is that a good fragrance is only as good as its ingredients, or the balance of ingredients within. Our entire ethos is actually very simple: let the product sell itself. Of course we need to conduct marketing for brand awareness, but we’re aware that anyone can sell something once, but few people make loyal customers purely on the basis of a genuinely good product, and that’s why we decided to opt for the strongest fragrance possible: Extrait de Parfum.
All of our fragrances are Extrait De Parfum and have a 30% fragrance oil composition, offering a slower evaporation for improved longevity. The base notes in each fragrance are more pronounced as a result and you’ll get better skin adhesion vs an Eau de Toilette fragrance.
If you really want the best bang-for-your-buck, it may be worth considering the below base notes as these are well-known for longevity.

Why are Designer Perfumes so Expensive?
This is a simple answer really and it boils down to brand-tax, which is made up of things like: expensive packaging, brand-demand (people are obviously willing to pay over-the-odds to smell nice), brand mark-up and middlemen. The middlemen make up the majority of the revenue for big fragrance brands so it is in the best interest of the fragrance brand to ensure there is sufficient profit in the product for themselves and the middlemen. This inflates the price beyond what is reasonable based on the ingredients themselves. The good news is this: fragrances are simply a combination of aromatic fragrance compounds and anyone with experience in aroma chemistry can make them – and that’s exactly why we launched Naked Formula.
Our Inspired Fragrances offer the same luxurious scents you’ll get from the big-brands, with none of the brand tax and associated price-hikes. We make our fragrances with care and attention, package them in moderate packaging, and send them directly to you. There’s no middlemen tax, no excessive packaging & no celebrity markup.
Instead you can enjoy high-quality scents that last all day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Extrait De Parfum is the highest commonly used fragrance concentration in perfumery. It contains a much higher percentage of fragrance oils compared to Eau De Toilette or Eau De Parfum, resulting in a richer scent profile and significantly longer-lasting performance.
Yes. Extrait De Parfum typically contains a higher concentration of fragrance oils, often between 20–40%, whereas Eau De Parfum usually contains around 10–20%. This creates a deeper, more intense fragrance experience with improved longevity.
Extrait De Parfum can often last between 8–12 hours or more depending on the fragrance composition, skin type and application. Rich base notes such as oud, amber, musk and vanilla tend to last the longest.
Many fragrance enthusiasts consider Extrait De Parfum worth it because the higher oil concentration creates a longer-lasting and more luxurious scent experience. Fewer sprays are usually needed, making it excellent value over time. Luckily, our Extrait de Parfum fragrances are much cheaper than their inspired counterparts, and most if not all of those are weaker anyway!
Because Extrait De Parfum is highly concentrated, 2–5 sprays is usually enough for most situations. Applying too much can become overpowering, especially with strong woody, amber or gourmand fragrances.
Yes. Extrait De Parfum often lasts even longer on clothing than on skin. Fragrance oils cling well to fabrics, allowing some scents to remain noticeable for days after application.
Extrait De Parfum typically costs more to produce because it contains significantly higher levels of fragrance oils. However, many designer fragrances are also heavily marked up due to branding, celebrity campaigns, retail margins and luxury packaging.
Extrait De Parfum is generally considered the longest-lasting mainstream fragrance concentration due to its high oil content and slower evaporation rate. It typically outperforms Eau De Toilette and Eau De Parfum in both longevity and richness.
